Pink brought her Funhouse stage show to the Isle Of Wight Festival this evening (June 13), making a dramatic entrance from a great height to kick off the performance.

The US singer began the set inside a large box suspended from a crane, then dropped down to the stage attached to wires and started singing a short version of ‘Get This Party Started’.

Later in the set she introduced her songwriting partner Butch Walker, who played guitar and sang with her on ‘Mean’ and short covers of The Who’s ‘My Generation’, Green Day’s ‘Basket Case’ and The Police’s ‘Roxanne’.

During the end of ‘Roxanne’, Pink climbed into a huge inflatable ball and rolled around on top of the crowd before returning to the stage for the song’s climax.

‘I can’t believe I’m playing on the same stage as Paul McCartney,’ she later said. ‘And he’s a vegetarian too.’

For her encore she was attached to more wires and sang ‘So What’ while performing acrobatics above the crowd between the stage and the mixing desk.

Pink is back together with her husband, motorcross racer Carey Hart.

The pair married in 2006 and announced they were splitting up just two years later, prompting Pink to write her hit song ‘So What’ in which she calls him a ‘tool’.

In an interview on today’s ’Ellen DeGeneres Show’, the singer said that the pair can now see the funny side of the track, telling DeGeneres: “He’s in the audience so when I sing, ‘He’s a tool,’ now that’s my favorite line. Hi, Honey, that’s you.”

Pink is currently gearing up for her ‘Funhouse Tour’ of North America, which will be opened by The Ting Tings.

The two acts will play on the Friday (July 2) of the three-day event, which is set to continue until the following Sunday (4) and takes place in the capital’s Hyde Park.

Kanye West and Basement Jaxx headlined the event last year.

Pink has beaten Oasis in the battle to be Number One in the UK singles chart.

The singer also knocked Kings of Leon off the top spot with her new single ‘So What’, pushing the Followills down to second place, while  Oasis went in at Three with ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’.

Pink was favourite to win the battle after leading the midweek charts – despite entering at Number 38 last week.

Sugababes also jumped from Eight to Number Four with their new single ‘Girls’, while Katy Perry’s former chart-topper ‘I Kissed A Girl’ slipped to Number Seven.

In the album chart, Kings of Leon remain on top for a second week with ‘Only By The Night’, despite Will Young’s bid to claim the Number One spot with his fourth album ‘Let It Go’.

Seasick Steve was another new entry at Number Nine with ‘I Started Out With Nothin’ And I Still Got Most Of It Left’.

The two stars lend their voices to the advert, which is called ‘Stolen For Fashion’. They appear as a crocodile and rabbit – both of whom have been skinned for their fur

Pink has announced the initial dates of a North American tour, set to kick off September 15 in Seattle, WA.

The tour is the singer’s first US outing since 2006 and supports the solo star’s four-million selling album ‘Funhouse’ which features her first US Number One Billboard single for ‘So What’.

The Funhouse Tour has broken records abroad as Pink has become the biggest solo touring artists ever in Australia, selling out 58 arena shows. Sales of the European leg of the tour have surpassed one million tickets sold with 28 sold out arena shows in Germany, as well as five sold out dates at London’s O2 Arena.

Pink has on a break after ‘Funhouse’ tour to head off on a road trip with husband Carey Hart. She arrived in Australia in May, has now performed 27 back-to-back shows across the country, leading the tour’s promoters to decide that she deserved a mid-season break.

According to her Twitter name where is real name is Alecia, “I get to retire Pink for nine days and be good ol’ Alecia.”
